FAQ

FAQ

  • Q: How long does it take to replace an entire window?

A: On average, we can install a new window in less than an hour. This will depend on the size and type of window you’re having installed, however.

  • Q: When is it worth it to replace a window instead of fixing it?

A: In general, it’s almost always a better idea to repair your windows vs buying replacements. This is true even for homes that have old windows, especially when it comes to insulative properties. Contrary to popular belief, it is difficult to get custom windows that will fit an older home as well as the originals. The main reasons you may want to replace a window is if it is made from wood and suffering from weather damage, such as rotting. Even in this case, your window may be able to be repaired.

  • Q: Is shattered glass the only reason for replacing the glass in windows?

A: No. Occasionally glass—especially older glass—can become warped or marbled over time. This cannot be repaired without replacing the damaged glass.

  • Q: What are the main causes of glass damage in the home?

A: The most common causes of damage to glass in windows and doors are weather-related damage caused by falling limbs and other storm damage. Household accidents, both indoors and out, are also common causes of damage. For instance, a ball through a window or a doorknob to your shower doors is likely to cause damage.

  • Q: Can I have my original glass replaced with decorative or protective glass?

A: In most cases, yes. We can replace your original glass with coloured, patterned or protective tempered glass panels. We will assess your situation when we arrive to determine what upgrades are possible.
